Drumbeat - About the future of Portsmouth Naval Base
Drumbeat aims to keep you informed in the campaign to ensure that the naval base has a thriving and long-term future and continues to be at the heart of a community it has served since 1496, when Henry VII ordered the construction of what’s thought to be the world’s first dry dock.
The Drumbeat email distribution list includes MPs, local authorities throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, defence related companies, Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the media.
It is planned to publish Drumbeat regularly until the government announces the findings of its review of Britain’s three naval bases. There may be extra issues if there are major developments or we have something important to share with you.
Drumbeat is edited by Mark Wingham from Portsmouth City Council on behalf of organisations including SEEDA and Fleet Support Limited.
The next issue will include contributions from Fareham Borough Council’s Leader and Jon Rosamond, the Defence Correspondent for Portsmouth’s daily newspaper The News.
