This web site has been set up on behalf of the Portsmouth Naval Base Campaign Group.
The Group began forming in February 2007. We were inspired by the campaign being run by The News, but concerned that there was no other evidence of the threat to the Base causing any concern across the city. Our initial focus has been on setting up the online version of the Hands off Our Base petition on the Prime Ministers web site, and on trying to make sure that as many people as possible sign the petition.
Our objective:
To ensure that the political decision makers considering the response to the MoD Review of UK Naval Bases are aware of the strength of feeling in support of maintaining the maximum level of fleet activity in Portsmouth Naval Base.
The Group as been started by members of the city's business community and includes members from both the Federation of Small Businesses and the Chamber of Commerce. We have no formal connection with The News, but are very happy to have their support and permission to use the same "Hands off our Base" name and images.
