Hands Off Our Base
In September 2006, the Ministry of Defence announced that it was reviewing the operation of its Naval Bases across Britain. The options being considered by this review include the closure of Portsmouth Naval Base.
Portsmouth's daily paper, The News , immediately launched the Hands Off Our Base campaign to preserve its future. Portsmouth City Council quickly threw its weight behind the campaign.
The results of the review are not expected to be revealed until summer 2007.
The purpose of this website it to provide an online focus for anyone that wants to support the campaign to keep Portsmouth Naval Base at the heart of the Royal Navy.
